Gone for a While

Hello y'all! I'll be off for a week, tomorrow to next Sunday. To Arizona actually and could not be more excited! That's as far west as I've been and I have no idea what to expect. Lots of prayers are needed as this isn't just any vacation, its first and foremost a ministry trip with an organization I'm involved in. I ask for you prayers of courage, comfort, and safety. Have a great weekend and week!

All I've been thinking about these days is interior design. I can't get my mind off of it. Nowadays I gravitate more towards home stores, the TJ Maxx lamp section, and don't even get me started when I see art - all more than any clothing store. When did this happen? I feel like this either qualifies me as a real adult or solidifies my love for interiors. There is something so expressive about the place you call home. I would even go as far to say its more self-expressive than fashion (well, kinda). Your home holds the things you cherish most. It says a lot about a person who displays family photos, music posters, or for me, art from my travels or made by me. We show these things off because we cherish them and are proud of them. Yes, we can be proud of a new pair of shoes (hello when I finally get my Louboutin's I'll be proudly strutting) but do you really cherish those like a family photo? Anyways, these items don't have much to do with my previous spiel but I do love what I chose: light teals, golds, and whites. Those are definitely some of the colors I gravitate towards when decorating, not to mention a little mid-century modern furniture style for good measure. What are some of your favorite decorating colors? Styles?

Easy Breezy

So it's officially summer here! Down south it usually starts pretty early and the temps here haven't been unbearable but they're creeping up there. I wore this outfit to church on Sunday: easy, breezy, and light. A Lilly Pulitzer skort* (I know?!), old Forever 21 top, Melie Bianco bag, Target flats, and a Francesca's necklace (similar). If you want a serious bargain head on over to Target for these flats: two pairs for $30. An absolute steal and actually quite comfortable. Happy Tuesday! Here's to a short week!

*I'm not one to normally go for bright Lilly OR skorts but I have loved this one. So. Easy. This one and this one are two great options they have available this season.

Weekend Reading

Happy Friday to all! This has been kind of a weird week and I still don't feel like I have a routine yet. So much has changed in the last month I don't know what to do with my time and I'm learning so many things about living in my first real place. It kinda makes you feel down a little bit. Has anyone else felt that way? I know change is a good thing but the beginnings of it are hard. Well, I was feeling very British today so I picked up a couple of magazines at my local bookstore. I hadn't planned on it but stumbled across these and now I'm dying to go back to England. Right now. Is there any place or country that just does it for you? Incites instant wanderlust, happiness and dreams... have a joyful holiday weekend spent with friends and family!

1. I haven't featured an The Every Girl's home tour in a while and I thought it was about time. Alaina Kaczmarski's proved no exception. What I especially loved about this feature was seeing her style decor evolve from her many apartment changes. Well done girl!

2. A good read about blogging: the past, present, and future of this relatively new business.

3. J'adore the prints by Carin Olson of Paris in Four Months

4. I loved seeing everyone's posts and Instagrams from the National Stationary Show this past week. A few favorite companies are Thimble Press, Puddle Duck Paper, and the Creative Porcupine. Check out their Instas!

The Perfect Piece

I think its always important to find art that you love and reflects who you are. The Perfect Pieces I shall call them. These botanical prints are no exception for me. I adore flowers, white, green, and botanical prints. These are so timeless and elegant. I can picture them now hanging in my future kitchen or bathroom (all white of course) and being the perfect accent piece. Not to mention they're called Camellia: a name a love and it reminds me of my grandmother who loved to garden. I've never bought anything on One Kings Lane because I'm a student and my budget doesn't allow it (mostly), but I hope to check it more because I've heard nothing but great things. Have you had an experience with the online store?

J. Crew New Arrival Low-Down

Of course J.Crew's New Arrival section is to-die-for, as always. They're always good, but especially at the start of summer. I found myself gravitating towards all things blue and white. Which doesn't surprise me, now that I think about it. I love the color combination in an outfit: stylish, chic, and timeless. Well, here are my favorites from their new collection! I've been dying for a roomy, thin leather tote like this one, saw the tassel earrings in their catalogue and gasped, that tank looks great in every color, and when don't you need a new white blouse?

And She's at it Again

So my favorite blogger of all time (well, top 5) has done it again. I always get excited when I look at her blog daily, and today was no exception. Atlantic-Pacific did a sweet collaboration with kate spade new york and I drooled over the images above. The red, jean jacket, cheeky saying, tennies, and awesome bag - I. Want. It. All.

Here's my take:

Printed tee: Forever 21 Heathered French "Bonjour" tee, $14
Jean Jacket: Gap 1969 Denim jacket,  $42 (on sale!)
Tennis shoes: Forever 21 Classic Canvas Plimsolls, $13
Sunnies: Urban Outfitters Emma sunglasses, $16
Bag: Forever 21 Refined Zippered Tote, $30
or Kenneth Cole Clean Slate tote, $50 or the splurge-worthy Rebecca Minkoff M.A.B leather tote, $295

Never in a Million Years

Never in a million years did I think I would write a post about comfortable yet stylish shoes. If that's even a thing. But alas, as I've gotten older and the more I've done, my feet haven't held up. Especially after going abroad and walking everywhere, I can barely last three hours in heels, much less a whole work day. With that said, I love dressing nice for work and heels are always my go-to for that. But how do you do that when all the pairs you already own just plain hurt? Well, Zappos it is (I love how specific you can sort everything). Here is my definitive round-up of the cutest shoes under the "Comfortable" tab on the site that will hopefully cure my foot blues. Have any of y'all had this issue? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Clockwise from top:
1. The Miz Mooz Rio, $80
2. The Eric Michael Hilary, $90
3. Born Julianne, $90 (really digging the sky blue for some reason)
4. Born Maldives, $100
5. Born Filomena, $85
6. Clarks Caslynn Regina, $85

Weekend Reading

What a whirlwind of a week. So happy it's FRIDAY! You have no idea how exciting the weekend is for me now that I'm working and don't have any homework to do! Yay! I also have many things to look forward and cannot wait to tell y'all about them in due time. Can I just brag on God for a second here?! His faithfulness is never-ending. He somehow always answers my prayers and then some. I'm constantly amazed by how he loves me, cares for me, provides for me, and exceeds my expectations. What a wonderful life this is. Happy weekend and (almost) summer for many!

For you enjoyment...

1. My Style Vita's new blog redesign is kickin'. Can't wait to do this for myself one day!

2. I adored Victoria's honesty & bravery in her post marking her 1 year NYC anniversary.

3. Have you heard of Tieks? I'm extremely interested in these and would love all reviews!

4. I could watch this 100 times more. Love Jimmy Fallon.

5. Look at what a steal this easy, breezy dress is? Might have to pick this one up and a couple others from this fun site.

Wednesday for the Win

Apparently I spoke too soon because I've fallen behind on my blogger duties... again. I promise I'm finally on the right track now because I'm officially all moved into my summer house! Wahoo! And I start my internship today. I'm feeling very adult right now and I don't know how to handle myself. Anyways, I would love some prayers of encouragement and courage today along with happy thoughts. I woke up to lots of rain so I wish I was sporting the boots above (they're Joules too - an absolute fav). Ah, happy Wednesday!

Changing it Up

Don't you just love this look? Dark, chocolate brown hair, matte makeup, a little mascara, and a solid red lip. If I could chose, I would love to look like this all the time. I'm not one to keep it simple when it comes to my hair and makeup. I like changes. I've had bangs twice and have cut it short numerous times. Right now is one of those times and I'm already getting bored with it. I really want to change it to a deep chocolate brown color like this one. What are your thoughts?

Graduation Weekend

Graduation Weekend
Whether you're the one graduating or just attending, here are some fun outfits for the big day! I'll be attending my brother's graduation in Virginia this weekend so I'll probably steer towards the classic side. Although I'm currently searching for the perfect white jeans. Any suggestions? LOFT has been my best bet but of course the style that fits me best is sold out in stores. Anyways, I love the idea of dressing it down for parties with white jeans and breezy top. Or even going trendy with a fun dress, booties, and jean vest. As always though, flats are your best option! Even though I put these heeled booties in here, with all the parties, pictures, and probable fun you're going to have sticking with sandals is your best bet. What are your top picks for graduation weekends?

Friends!

Hi friends! Sorry I've been gone for so long. With finals and a family wedding with 3 parties, I did not have time for blogging! And I've been feeling under the weather so all motivation went out the window. But I'm back and it's SUMMER! Wahoo! I could not be more excited for a break from school and the warm (i.e. hot) months ahead of me. I love spring, though, so I'm sad to see it go. I had some time to kill so I stopped by the local botanical gardens in Birmingham and it was beautiful. A little warm in the sunshine but I loved seeing all the flowers blooming and green everywhere. Anyways, have fun celebrating Cinco de Mayo! I won't be celebrating because I'm home with my parents and need a few more days to rest up. Thanks for being faithful readers! Much love xo
