Anyways, this weekend has been a beacon of hope for me. I'm hoping to study, wear comfy clothes, and drink lots of good coffee. I think I can manage. I've rounded up a couple of links for you to enjoy, joyeux weekend!

Late Night Inspiration

At some point in our life, we have all felt wimpy, scrawny, and undersized. Even worse, we live in a world that values strength, power, and influence. We can even feel scrawny in our spiritual lives as well. We hear stories of people who have dramatic spiritual lives and suddenly we feel weak and foolish by comparison. The amazing thing about the Bible is that it is full of weak, imperfect people that God used to do amazing things. This is very hopeful for Christians today because it means that God can use you in your weakness to do amazing things for His glory. God chooses to use our weakness to display His strength. This means that you do not have to be the best, the smartest, or the coolest for God to use you. This means that because of Jesus you have been adopted into God’s family and that He actually delights in using you to impact the world around you.

Style Icon: Audrey Hepburn

Oh, Audrey.

Isn't she every girls icon at one point? I feel in love with her when I was in the 10th grade approximately. I had heard of Breakfast at Tiffany's and had told everyone I loved her, so I eventually watched her films. The obsession really took hold when I got a short haircut one year and a sweet friend told me I look liked her. I really don't think there is a more flattering compliment out there.
Back to Audrey: how can you not adore this lovely, endearing, classic, and timeless woman? She oozes elegance on and off screen. Every time I watch Funny Face (a personal favorite) I am envious of her perfect posture and dark eyebrows. But alas, I still wake up every morning hunching over and with dark eyebrows but no perfect face for them to frame.  If I can never decide what to wear, I think: What would Ms. Hepburn do? I reach for my cropped black pixie jeans, flats, and a simple top. As you can see above Audrey's style was perfectly classic, even in her later years. In the future I hope to add the perfect trench and LBD to my collection just like her. And hopefully cut my bangs again.  What are your favorite Audrey moments?

An App to Try

Everyone should try out the amazing app Studio! It is an incredibly cool, creative photo editing and graphic design app for iPhone and (I think) Android. It is a m a z i n g. The above images are a very things I created. So far I've played around with adding text, phrases, and designs to pictures that I've taken. You can also create graphic images from scratch. It allows for complete creativity and is easy to use. The app is free and it comes with lots of cool stuff but you can also download free overlays and even cooler ones for $.99, but overall this app is way too awesome to be free! Check it out!

A Bit of Advice

Again, The Every Girl has another fabulous article. This one, uniquely, is about grocery shopping. Weird, huh? Well I found it totally inspiring and just what I needed to read! I've been feeling like I'm in a rut these days when it comes to eating and living healthy. This stems from being post-abroad where its justifiable to eat pastries everyday! Anyways, I found "The Only Grocery Shopping List You'll Ever Need" totally accessible and doable. Essentially, you limit your purchases to what you really only need and want to eat. Nothing else. Check out the list above and tell me what you think!

Here's my ideal list:
1. 2 proteins: pre-cooked Rotisserie chicken and salmon
2. 2 veggies: broccoli and green beans to steam
3. 2 fruits: Tomatoes and raspberries
4. Herb-du-jour: what ever looks good!
5. A dozen frozen eggs (I love eggs)
6. Greek yogurt: I like Fage
7. Choice of cheese: Feta on everything
8. Choice of grain: whole wheat pasta
9. Granola
10. Smart snack: Almonds or veggie chips.

What I Love Right Now: My Barbour Jacket

My Barbour Beadnell Jacket has become a #1 staple in my closet. I begged my mom for this jacket, I mean begged (my college budget didn't quite fit with the price tag). But, my solid reasoning was I'm going to be studying in Britain so I have to have one, right? Well not only was it useful there but in the states as well. It is the perfect jacket for me: light but heavy, durable material on the shell, and warm fleece on the inside and pockets. I can use it when its freezing with my fleece vest insert or not. But really I just love the look of it, especially when I pair it with something not casual. The jacket is casual and rugged so I love to contrast it with sweaters, sequins, or leather. I glam it up a little bit while the jacket keeps it from going overboard. I highly, highly recommend this jacket to anyone! Many of my friends have gotten them or similar styles. Below I've picked some of my favorites.

Clockwise from above:
1. Orvis, $269, for a lighter color
2. Barbour Hope Beadnell, $379, for a fun, floral alternative
3. Barbour Classic Beadnell, $379
4. Eddie Bauer, $299, a perfect alternative but comes at a price.
5. Barbour waxed in navy
6. LL Bean, $99, probably the best knock-off at the best price you're going to find.

Weekend Reading

Happy weekend! Aren't you so glad it's Friday?! I know I sure am, even though I have loads to do this weekend. I'm fortunate enough so see one of my best camp friends tonight and I could not be more overjoyed. My goals for this weekend are to get lots of school work done (still a struggling college student), run errands, and try at least 1 new restaurant/coffee shop here in Memphis. Let's see if that happens! Hope you enjoy the posts below!

1. A beautiful written and strong post on how women can lead the world, but only if other women let it happen. Lets help out sisters.

2. My favorite shop has one of my favorite blogs: cute, quirky, kitsch, and inspiring.

3. Check this girl out. Oh my goodness. I am obsessed. Too bad I still live in a dorm and can't do beautiful and crafty things like this. Props to you girl!
(p.s. you've probably noticed I've been spending a lot of time on The Every Girl. It's a new favorite of mine and you have to check it out!)

4. Usually I skip over Glitter Guide's weekly Things-To-Do post but this one looks awesome: gold-leaf DIY, mulled wine, The Oscars, and traveling. Need I say more?

5. Whoops, another post from The Every Girl.  Try this meal anytime for anyone.

Shop of the Week: Design Darling

As I've mentioned before, Mackenzie Horan {a.k.a Design Darling} is one of my absolute favorite bloggers. I adore her classic yet fun style, love for all things navy and pink, and her interest in interior design. Her blog is actually my first read everyday! Well, not only does she write a fabulous blog but also has an even more fabulous boutique to go with it. She has the best selection around of stationary, classic home decor, bright gifts, and little happies. I, of course, love anything monogrammed, especially the acrylic pieces. I've rounded up her must-have items from the Design Darling Boutique.
Happy shopping!

Clockwise from above:
1. The adorable monogrammed acrylic tray. $42.00
2. Cheetah, pink, and simplicity? I adore these precious notes. $18.00
3. A tortoise clutch. Why haven't I seen this before?! $100.00
4. Pens in my favorite color green. $22.00
5. This item is a given: I adore any turquoise earrings such as these. $98.00
6. I love, love, love these mugs. Now I just need a Mr. to share it with! $24.00

Style Icon: Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palmero has quickly become one of the most watched names in fashion. And for good reason. Her effortless, impeccable style can't be beat. Not to mention her flawless hair. I'm talking flawless. I was never a fan of The City (the MTV reality show with Whitney Port) but I find myself now obsessed with her style. Her outfits are constant inspiration for me. Think classic yet chic, neutral yet full of life. She knows how to rock all black and that Barbour?! I wish I could pull that look off with mine. Below are a couple photos of this fabulous It Girl and one of my style icons.

Walking In Between

That awkward time when the seasons are changing and you have absolutely no idea how to dress. Exactly what I'm going through right now. A bit early you don't you think? Probably the question going through your mind. Well, I live in a special little place called the South and more specifically Memphis where the weather is incredibly unpredictable. It is still February and even though there were chances of snow last week, everyone is busting out their shorts and sandals because the weather is amazing. I'm loving the warmer weather but I had the hardest time getting dressed this morning because of it. On the one hand, I want to embrace the warmness and shed my tights off. But it is also still February and I need to dress appropriately for the seasons. Thus my search turned to Pinterest and J.Crew because these old pals never fail me. My results?

1. Sweaters and skirts. Such a simple combo but one I never reach for. I was incredibly intrigued by a sweater, midi-skirt, and booties. Trés chic.

2. Chambray and anything, really. But especially tied up with fuller, high waisted skirts are appealing.

3. Sleeveless tops and boyfriend jeans. Which I have neither of but I'm really hoping to change that. J.Crew has been revamping their jeans this season and looks like I might be able to find the perfect pair.

Bey Mondays

Beyoncé.

Unless you've been living under a rock you understand, know, and respect this household name. But she holds a special place in my heart. A fellow diva, sass, and beautiful woman I love Beyonce. Like no, I have an obsession/deep love of her. I was privileged enough to go to her concert this past summer on the Mrs. Carter world tour and I had floor seats with my sister. We could see the holes in her fishnets. No lie. Anyways, thought I would share some beautiful images of her because why not? Also, have you listened to her infamous new album? XO and Pretty Hurts are on repeat. Not to mention Yoncé occasionally. Happy Bey Day!

Weekend Reading

Happy, happy Friday!

If you're anything like me, you've been longing for this day. A long week is an understatement. I've been a little under the weather and these cold temperatures have not helped. I need some relaxation time. Oh and Happy Valentine's Day! Here are a couple links I found this week and I loved so I thought I would share them with you. Also, don't you love this lip print from Vogue?! It is currently my computer background. Enjoy!

1. How amazing is this video? I want to go to this school (also bitter I didn't get any of this snow). Not to mention, how did he get the U.S. Olympic sweater/jacket monstrosity??

2. This precious Parisian quiz that decides the best job for you. Trop bon!

3. How flawless is THIS outfit by Gal Meets Glam?! I am so in love. I want to recreate this all-blush ensemble soon! Monochrome outfits are one of my favorite things to try but I never thought of doing a blush one. Perfect for this Valentine's Day! (I won't even mention those Valentino heels...)

4. If you're anything like me, you have been stalking not only the runway fashions from this past New York Fashion Week, but the street style as well. Teen Vogue has compiled a near perfect list of the show-stopping fashion seen: from punk, to chic, to celebs, bloggers, etc. I loved perusing through their compilation.

5. ALL of the bags on Kate Spade these days have been oozing pink, red, and love. I don't think you can go wrong! I would love to add one to my collection.

Happy Valentine's Day!

1. The Diptyque Christmas candle! I know its seasonal and out of stock but you can find some on Ebay. Seriously regretting not picking this one up over the holidays.

2. Red Chuck Taylors. I have white high-tops and distressed low-tops which I live in. Hoping to add these classics this season.

3. A Kate Spade wallet. I've been wanting the Lacey style for a while, especially in a metallic. I love this updated version.

kate spade new york

kate spade.

A company synonymous with color, brights, bows, and sparkle. What more could you ask for? I have been obsessed with this fashion house for years and their most recent collection just debuted and they did not disappoint. Kate Spade knows the way to my heart and their show for New York Fashion Week was fabulous, at best.

Here are some of my favorite looks:

All pink, I know. Look at the detail shot of all the chic shoes as well! To die for!

Happy Friday

Finally.

Such a long, long week. I'm so happy its finally Friday and I can relax. Kinda. I still have loads to do this weekend but it is 10x nicer when I don't have to go to class in between those things. Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Mine will consist of hanging out with friends tonight, (hopefully) Jazzercise tomorrow morning, volunteering at my local art museum, and some much needed catch up time with a friend. Life is so good! Even when I have a million things to do.

Here are some Friday links to entertain you this weekend:

1. Mackenzie Horan's post reminding us to be thankful for what we have, what we've been given, and where we are.

2. Benefit's new "Big Easy," A.K.A. a tinted moisturizer, BB cream, and light foundation all rolled into one. I'm very intrigued by their experiment and am dying to test it out.

 3. Also from Birchbox, the 411 on Vitamin skincare. I never really thought of it as something to put on my skin. I'm thinking I need to add some vitamins to my face and my body.

4. An extremely useful how-to for matting your photos and in a unique way. Especially because I have so much art from abroad I still need to frame!

5. Well New York Fashion Week has begun and you know what that means? A lot of things actually, but my favorite collection is being presented right now (I love the internet). Kate Spade does it again. Really loved the pink sparkly pointed-toe pumps. To. die. for.

How much is too much?

Do you ever find yourself constantly checking your phone, computer, email, etc.? I know I do. I spend way too much time on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Even though I love Instagram for all the pretty pictures, it can be addictive in all the wrong ways. Todays world has become saturated with technology. Our everyday lives are dictated by texts and phone calls. There have been a couple weekends where I've gone places without cell service or couldn't have my phone. The response from friends was scary! They didn't understand why I wasn't responding immediately. When did it become this way? I long for days when I don't have to use my phone constantly and actually enjoy those the most. I'm hoping to do a technology detox soon (part of my 101 in 1001 list, actually) and stop the use of my phone at around 8 pm ever night for a week. But is that even possible? Only time will tell. I was inspired by this post on the Every Girl and Leandra Medine's insightful commentary

Instead, why don't you write someone a sweet letter. And since its Valentine's Day coming up there's no better time to tell someone you love them.

Calligraphy

I have been on a huge calligraphy and hand-lettering kick these days. Without fail, every time I get on Pinterest, I find a beautiful image I must recreate. That's about where I am right now in my skill level. I just look at other artist's work and copy. Over and over again. Practice makes perfect, right? I'm dying to take a class though! I have found a couple online options and even some kits to start with. Below are a couple images of my amateur work. Still a long way to go! But I just love beautiful script, especially of bible verses and inspirational quotes. These makes some of the best pieces of art in my opinion!

What do you think? Have you found an artist that inspires you?

P.S. check out my Artistic board here where I pin all my favorite images!

The Chelsea

The Chelsea boot. Have you heard of it? I hadn't or even seen then until I went to London actually, then I fell in love. I saw stylish men and women wearing these flat, ankle booties everywhere. I immediately thought, where can I get my hand on those?! Sadly, everywhere in London was too expensive for my college budget. But, upon arriving home I found the perfect pair at Urban - chocolate brown and classically chic. And at a terrific price of $35. Now I love these boots, but I'm looking to invest in a nicer pair that will last a few more years. Any recommendations? I'm doing my research and here are few classic and alternative options I've found.

1 Topshop, $90

2 Zappos, $375
(Men's actually but my favorite!)

3 Asos, $130
